I want SandyStickit

Services like “Stickit” and “I want Sandy”, which is used by many people, is closing their service by the 8th of December 2008. This is due to the fact that the owner has been hired for a position at Twitter (who also has acquired the products technology)

This leaves the customers/users hanging high and dry, because there are not that many services out there to replace the service and you will also have to spend quite some time converting your information into a new format, which is terrible, since the service were are made to enhance your productivity.

There have also been an outrage from the community, not so much that the service is closing, but the 14 days of notice (I do not hope anybody of their users are on vacation right now)

Here are some comment:

I’m so glad that we were all able to contribute so much value to you so that you could be acquired, and shut down that which we contributed so much value. Thanks for nothing.

2 weeks notice? Are you kidding me? And, what, you’re relying on people to stumble across this notification on this one website, while the Sandy emails say nothing (and you’re still accepting sign-ups). Look, Sandy is/was a great service, but as someone who caries a “CEO” title, your customer relationship skills need some polish…

This is a sad lesson in that the services that we depend upon, can be take away from use on a very short notices and that there is still an idea in buying software in the “normal” sense.
If this had been a paid service, would the situation be different ?

Foodscape by Carl Warner

Take a look at this amazing picture, where everything is made out of food (hence the name foodscapes) – Carl Warner sells this pictures on his website, where he also displays work from other genres. But it is impressive, if you take a look at the details, you will find that everything is made from food – Take an extra look.

This is in my opinion one of the most inspiring website out there, because it keeps you updated and informed on what is going on in the GTD space and also throws in a couple of oddities, which is very cool.

Check out lifehacker today

Have a nice read at their website.

The days of boring comment on what you are doing at the moment on your facebook profile is NOW over.

try out the generatus and find a comment for your online profil.

I chose this one today – “wondering: if you were going to shoot a mime, would you use a silencer?”

Have fun pushing that generate button, but remember to get things done.

Ubiquity

Jep, I installed Ubiquity on my Mac, at first I could not see the use for it and was about to remove it again. This has not happend, because I started to hit that key combo (alt-space) when I had marked an address in firefox or when there were some text in Spanish or Danish(in the picture), which was translated into english in three keystrokes. This is very cool and very time saving.

These are the basic features of Ubiquity and you can also customize the way Ubiquity works to your desire.

Find out more at the Ubiquity website

I do feel that some of the features are better or more useful than others. Weather is not a thing that I find useful in Ubiquity. But that should not stop you from trying it out – ASAP

Are desktops changing?

Bumptop desktop

Will the desktop change forever? the people behind Bumptop defintivly think so.

There are some very cool ideas in the Bumptop, I do see a problem in movig my messy desk onto the computer, since it uses the same analogy. Look out though, features from their ideas will move into how we use computers in the future. One question is how fast are people willing to change? (take a look at car designs)
